The first thing we would suggest you do is put a stop on your mail delivery. You can do this by visiting the post office website or at your local post office. When you have mail sitting for days in your mailbox, this gives away you are not home. You could also ask a friend or family member to pick up your mail for you.
If you are going to be longer than a week it might be a good idea to hire lawn care. Asking a neighborhood teenager who is looking to make some extra money is always a good idea. A kept lawn can give the illusion you are home too. Plus, who doesn’t like coming home to a fresh, clean lawn? It’s a win win!
Social Media
We know how much fun it can be to show off the fun times you are having on vacation. But it is best to hold off on posting pictures on social media while you are gone. You don’t want people to know you are gone at that moment. So making a post when you get home of what a great time you had would be better.
If you were to make a post while gone, it’s a good idea to check that your location is turned off. This will help keep people from knowing exactly where you are at that moment. Again, it is best to wait till you are back at your house to post. You never know who might be looking at your account.
